Canada Express Entry
Fast-Track Your Permanent Residence Journey
Express Entry is Canada's online immigration management system for skilled workers. It manages applications under several federal economic immigration programs and selected Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs), allowing eligible candidates to apply for Canadian permanent residence.
Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP)
The Federal Skilled Worker Program is designed for skilled professionals with overseas work experience who wish to become permanent residents of Canada.
Candidates are assessed using a comprehensive selection system based on factors such as age, education, language proficiency, skilled work experience, and adaptability.
General Eligibility:
- Minimum 67 points on the Federal Skilled Worker selection grid
- At least one year of continuous full-time skilled work experience in an eligible occupation (NOC TEER 0, 1, 2, or 3)
- Minimum CLB 7 in an approved English or French language test
- Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) for foreign qualifications, where required
Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP)
The Federal Skilled Trades Program provides a permanent residence pathway for qualified trades professionals such as electricians, plumbers, welders, carpenters, mechanics, and other skilled trades.
General Eligibility:
- At least two years of full-time work experience in a qualified skilled trade within the previous five years
- Valid Canadian job offer or a certificate of qualification issued by a Canadian provincial or territorial authority (where applicable)
- Minimum language requirements: CLB 5 in Speaking and Listening, CLB 4 in Reading and Writing

Canadian Experience Class (CEC)
The Canadian Experience Class is intended for individuals who have gained eligible skilled work experience in Canada and wish to transition to permanent residence.
General Eligibility:
- At least 12 months of eligible full-time skilled work experience in Canada within the previous three years
- Work experience must meet program requirements and generally excludes unauthorized employment
- Language requirements vary depending on occupation
- Intention to reside outside Quebec
Other Provincial and Regional Programs
Provincial Nominee Program (PNP)
Each Canadian province and territory operates its own Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) to address local labour market needs by selecting qualified candidates with the skills required in their region.
Many provincial streams are aligned with Express Entry, offering faster processing for eligible applicants.
Key Benefits:
- Province-specific selection criteria
- Provincial nomination may significantly increase your Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score under eligible Express Entry streams
- Opportunities for skilled professionals, tradespeople, and entrepreneurs
Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP)
The Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP) helps designated employers in Canada's Atlantic provinces recruit qualified international talent for positions that cannot be filled locally.
Participating provinces include: New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, Newfoundland and Labrador.
Key Features:
- Employer-driven immigration pathway
- Valid job offer required
- Available to eligible applicants both inside and outside Canada
- Employer support throughout the immigration process
Quebec Skilled Worker Program
Quebec manages its own skilled worker immigration program separately from Express Entry.
Applicants generally complete the following stages:
- Apply for a Quebec Selection Certificate (CSQ)
- Apply for Canadian Permanent Residence through Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) after receiving the CSQ
Selection is based on Quebec's own eligibility criteria and point-based assessment system.
